THE CRUX OF THE MATTER: R E S O L V E
So you believe. It wouldn't make any difference at all whose words they are, written in your code book. Since it is the
code book you have to believe and obey belief systems based on a 'message' from 'high up there' are, in principle, not open to 'earthly' interpretations. Furthermore, these 'belief systems' put a special emphasis on the resolve or intent of the believer. Which necessitates the full and unequivocal comprehension of and compliance with the rules. If myth and mythology is behind what we call today the belief systems and because of that what we have to discuss here is the myth and mythology from distant past then all the believers should try to understand these myths. But how can you discuss mythology? You either accept or reject it. Or you may try to go to the roots of all these mythological stories. That is precisely what we shall do as we progress. Remember the mythogical stories explaining us the creation of the human race 'from mud' (as servants). Do you know the story of Nin-ti? Look them up in the Old Testament and Qoran. They are there although in slightly modified forms, to suit the needs of the writers.LOOK UP: THE CULPRIT IS THERE
Before we go further lets discuss again why we believe. Have you ever looked with your high magnification binoculars at the full moon when it is just over the horizon and felt the dizzying black emptiness enveloping the moon and yourself. Spenta Mainyu in Regent's Park in London was doing just that. Suddenly he felt as if hung in the middle of that black void and had to drop the binoculars to come back to himself. Another experience; it is almost midday, a breezy weather, a very pleasant deep blue sky with a few clouds here and there. Spenta Mainyu was lying on his back flat on the ground, enjoying being alive and well, inhaling the splendid aroma of the flora. But he suddenly felt the excitement of being in 'touch' with the 'material' of the endless space. Completely open to the 'nothingness' in which the world is hurtling through - with Spenta Mainyu on it - with a speed of thousands of miles/hour. Again the excitement rose to an unbearable level that he had to sit up and fought very hard to silence his heart. Spenta Mainyu lived through these experiences in the 20th century. Imagine a person or a group of persons, a community living thousands of years ago and try to visualize how they would have felt when they looked up at that endless, untouchable, concealing, 'governing' mystery called 'sky' in daytime or at night. Heat and cold, rain and thunder, snow and hail, lightning and rumbling, light and and dark, warmth and destruction all originated from 'there.' Unable to comprehend what's going on and what were the reasons behind it all, Spenta Mainyu is sure, that they must have felt extremely vulnerable, defenseless, naked, helpless.
A WHOLESALE ANSWER: DIVINE INTERVENTION(!)
For them the need for a protector, an 'entity' to turn to for assurance must have been obvious. This psychological state must have pushed individuals - who were also under the influence of the psychology of their community - into thinking and visualizing many extraordinary, out-of-this-world, supra-natural answers. The foundations of the 'wholesale' answer to all these humanly frailties, incomprehensions and shortcomings, were laid then. Today we call it belief/faith. This belief/faith dresses the nakedness deep inside the soul of human beings, offers help and solutions to the shotcomings and provides a 'protector' and a 'haven'. They did not need a 'message' or a 'revelation' then, because they had the nature's clear message that human beings were at the mercy of the natural forces. That was a strong enough message in itself. But there must have been something, 'somebody' behind these natural phenomena. Because in their daily lives there was always an initiator of an event. Someone started something going and when the time came someone put an end to it. Therefore the examples provided by their plain daily lives pointed to the necessary existence of 'personalities' behind these phenomena. So all they had to do was assign one 'personality' to each of these forces and start arranging their relations vis-a-vis these 'personalities' 'brought to being' by themselves. 'Messages' and 'revelations' came thousands of years later as the indestructable pillar stones of the 'belief systems' needed then. They were needed to establish supremacy, domination, to create a nation, to bend and break people etc. But the most important of all, to usurp power of the people by handing the right to decide to a 'supreme being', to a 'sovereign', and with his authority and acting on his behalf, forcefully obtaining people's obedience in this world in line with his rules.
FORMULA:
A PASSION FOR IMMORTALITY + OBEDIENCE WHILE LIVING + REWARD (AN AGREEABLE 'AFTERLIFE')People's obedience is secured. Do you know what was their reward? Do you know in return for what? For an 'agreeable' afterlife. In other words, continuation of life 'in another dimension' (Meaning is: 'alright! you may not be able to live here on earth forever but if you do as you're told there will still be life waiting for you somewhere else with unseen, unheard of advantages as well).
Obtaining this obedience proved to be very easy because human beings fear death and they were and are still prepared to give all they have, to achieve immortality.BELIEF EXCLUDES KNOWLEDGE
'Belief' is the bottom level of 'cognizance'. It is not based on any kind of concrete information. Furthermore it rejects, excludes 'knowledge'. It has a sentimental certainty. The believer, holds his/her belief higher than any other logical information. Due to this characteristic, belief cannot be discussed, change or develop. It is frozen. It cannot be bent. People are introduced to beliefs when their accumulated body of knowledge is very small; when they are not fully conscious of 'knowledge'; when they are unaware of virtues like questioning and skepticism.
BELIEF CANNOT BE DISCUSSED
Here we will not discuss beliefs/faiths because unless;
* the believer had the necessary information which would lead to reconsideration of his/her belief,
* the believer accepted this necessary information and entered into an intellectual debate within self,
* the believer opened his/her belief to debate,
* the believer questioned the foundation of his/her belief,
* the most important of all, the believer did not give up his/her sentimental obsession,
a belief cannot change. Belief and reason are two opposing poles. An intellectual questions self and environment continuously. But as soon as a belief is opened to questioning it ceases to be a belief. Why? First, questions may bring doubts, secondly because the 'belief/faith' has no logically accepted and universal answers and thirdly the psychological attachment between the believer and the belief doesn't allow questions. That is why a believer is apprehensive about questions from self or from others. Belief excludes questions. The only questions a belief accepts are those the official/accepted answers to which are given by the 'code book' of that belief. As soon as the belief is open to debate and questions accepted, belief ends because the sentimental/psychological link between the believer and the belief is severed.
THE ONLY UNCHANGING REALITY IS THE CONSTANT CHANGE
On the other hand universe is in a constant change. Spenta Mainyu is changing while typing these pages and you are changing reading them. Every letter you left behind makes you at least older. No one can do anything about it. It is the universal rule.
WHEN EVERYTHING IS IN CONSTANT CHANGE AND 'CHANGE' IS THE ONLY 'UNCHANGING REALITY,' HOW CAN A NEVER CHANGING 'BEING' AND AN 'EVER-CHANGING-EXISTENCE' WHICH ARE 'ONE' EXIST TOGETHER? Change excludes steady state; steady state excludes change. The officialdom of the existing 'belief systems' have prepared answers to these questions of course. They created 'cells within cells,' 'worlds within worlds,' 'hierarchies of will-powers,' 'higher and lower levels of existences, 'layers upon layers,' or this or that in trying to find an answer. But still a belief cannot change. It has to continue its existence on the framework established thousands of years ago. Belief is in the deepest layers of human psychology. It is rigid and imposed.
It is the worst dilemma? Constant change is the never changing rule of the existence and a belief, in order to carry on existing, has to be static. When the believer conciously experiences this dilemma it will be the first step towards enlightenment - this time not in the direction of the 'nether world' but of this one and of life on earth.DESTINY: THE WRITING ON THE FOREHEAD - FIRST CLASS SHIELD
The worst thing about this lowest level of cognizance is that one gives oneself 'body and soul' to the 'central being,' - the 'sovereign' - to the 'message'and to the 'clockwork mechanism' built around this belief. Everything one did and could not do is because of that 'central being'. What one has and has not is because of that. Hurdles facing one and suddenly opening doors are all from that. In short everything good or bad is because of that 'central being'. This believer meets all human frailties, shortcomings, unconsummated wishes, disappointments etc., with the belief. This way he prevents a psychological damage to himself. Thus preserving his psyhological wholeness. There is nothing negative about the believer, he is not to blame, the 'central being' of his belief/faith has fixed this outcome. Nothing could be done. This is destiny, the 'writing on the forehead.' Here lies the power of the belief: The belief/faith and the 'central being' are the shields against all kinds of adverse conditions and culprits of all unwanted outcomes. How can a person can give up voluntarily such a powerful psychological shield? As soon as he has given up his belief he would feel naked, defenseless and powerless. Furthermore he is not able to contact the 'central being' saying 'sorry, I am leaving you' or consulting him or getting his permission, because that 'being' is out of this world, 'somewhere out there', at a far away place, cannot be seen, cannot be heard but only believed in. This omnipotent power is so high, so extraordinary, so bountiful, so punishing, so incomprehensibly 'all-enveloping' that, let alone debating or doubting his power, even uttering his name is impossible. This 'being' is sacred, divine and far away. But an ' earthling' is living on this world in a concrete environment and there is nothing abstract in his life accept his abstract thoughts. He has to work, earn a living, produce, support a family, take time off to enjoy himself, and build a future. Most important of all he identifies himself with something. On the other hand there are those who are hopeless, helpless, jobless there is nothing concrete in their environment and they have no future, and they don't belong anywhere, they don't identify with anything in this world. They have no choice so they expect an intervention from outside. For these people a belief is a 'haven.' How can you open a debate on such a shield of protection?
What is to be done is to go to the roots of beliefs. If what one believes in today is a myth in reality then one has to search for the roots of it. Doing no research, asking no questions, excluding knowledge, rejecting debate all add up to one thing: Ignorance. Even education does not help it because
IGNORANCE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH BEING EDUCATED, IT WILL NOT DISAPPEAR WITH EDUCATION, IT IS AN OUTLOOK ON LIFE.There may be those who maintain that if we have to look for the roots of myths, we are in a hopeless situation because they are in the deep recesses of the past, in other words unreachable. Spenta Mainyu's response is clear: If there are those who uphold and live by the beliefs which have their roots in the deep recesses of the past, others must have every right to look for those roots no matter how distant they are.
MYSTIFICATION
There is unintelligibility / incomprehensibility / perplexity / obscurity / ambiguity / mystification (choose the word as you please) at the root of a belief/faith. Codifiers were concious of this fact. Believers? Well! they are just believers. Why? Because when it comes to the purported 'facts' of a belief nothing is clear. The reason for this is not the unfathomable distance between the present day believer and the 'codifier,' but the codified substance is perplexing in itself. So from that point of view, out of the words given above, the very last one, '
mystification' enters the stage and mystifies us. That was precisely the intention. It still is. Are there anything to put forward and to prove, apart from mystification? One has to be mystified to get carried on with the 'mystification' itself. Mystification has always been about the 'unknown.' Otherwise how can one get mystified about the 'known'? Only by rejecting the known and replacing it with the 'unknown of course.'Mystification has secrecy about it. Mystification opposes reality. Mystification is based on ignorance or lack of information. Mystification carries a bit of fear, a bit of apprehension and also a bit of 'need of identification.' These are all the pre-requisites of believing in an ambigous/perplexing/mystifiying matter. On top of all these, a belief in order to become a belief needs certain words - unique, unheard ones if you please - a certain understanding and peculiar points of view, as necessitated by its 'central being' and the 'message,' This in turn creates the need for a unique terminology. There must be written texts and ceremonies peculiar to this terminology. Most important of all one needs a central core of a group of people - rightly called 'initiates' because they initiated all the pre-requisites - and around these 'initiates' one needs a larger group of people who are close to the 'initiates' and invested with the responsibility of spreading the message around and ''interpreting' it to the plain people, to make them believers. These 'interpreters' show the way to 'illumination.' Which and whose way do you think they show? Their's of course. Please do not have the slightest of doubt. They are the 'conditioners.' They condition in line with their understanding and interest. Thus due to these interpreters-conditioners the peculiar terminology becomes much more complex, the 'interpretations' become much more removed from the reality. In the end the illuminators-interpreters-conditioners become unable to show the way and become out of date. Looking from their standpoint, they are helpless; in order to further the belief they have to obey the basic principles of the belief. What are they? Complexity, perplexity, ambiguity etc. These are some of the basic principles for the survival of a belief. This terminology is the 'haven' and the weapon used by those people who want to spread a belief to gain supremacy. The most important skill of these belief imposers is to accept a debate in their terminology with their approaches, and at the time they feel comfortable.THE CLOCKWORK MECHANISM
That is why Spenta Mainyu will never fall into the trap of perplexity by employing that special terminology. Spenta Mainyu will even use a definition instead of that usual/known single term when the need be. Spenta Mainyu will be ready to face up to the accusations of 'being unscientific'(!) (in the theological sense). In a subject that is fully and completely out of the boundaries of science, Spenta Mainyu would like to know the possible scientific(!) methods and approaches which fulfill the requisities of being scientific. Spenta Mainyu is in a difficulty to accept the following formula as scientific: When a belief system is in the process of construction, a '
sovereign' is needed right at the centre. This 'sovereign' is omnipotent. Secondly, a 'special' person with whom this 'sovereign' accepts to communicate is needed. And that person is called 'the messenger.' Of course this messenger need to have a 'message' to spread around. This original 'message' and the consequent ones should be in a special-unique terminology with the aim of defining and explaining this out-of-this-world invention of the human mind and establishing a monolithic group of believers. This terminology should be bound in a 'book.' to ensure the monolithic group remained that way through generations. There should be mediators (interpreters-conditioners) to make all this'invention' intelligible to plain people and to win them over via mystification. Another very important aspect is the introduction of ceremonies in line with the book. This is called 'prayer' in the widest sense. And finally one needs a place (church, synagogue, mosque, temple etc.) to pray, to carry out the ceremonies. This is the belief system. So you believe.. But have you ever, consciously traced all these steps and checked each of them against reality?THE INTELLECT
Don't forget the central 'sovereign' of your belief system has supposedly given you 'intellect' out of his own essence/substance. To do what? Certainly not to believe in everything you are told by your own kind - namely human beings. So ask the question. The right question. And take your first step towards becoming a 'being' as it was supposedly intended by your 'sovereign.' You were told 'you are the pinnacle of creation'. Aren't you?
